A retired gentleman was experiencing bladder problems because kidney stones were located in his bladder. A urologist performed a procedure to break up the stones in his bladder and in so doing cut through the bladder into the peritoneal cavity. The urologist did not diagnose his mistake and a massive infection occurred. He was diagnosed approximately 10 days later and repaired but it was too late to stop the massive infection. He was hospitalized for approximately 6 months and underwent additional surgical procedures.
